About Your Dentist

Joe C. Stucky, DDS

“Serving the community, one smile at a time!”

Background and Education

Dr. Joe Stucky grew up in the wheat country of Reno County, Kansas, the second of 4 children, and the son of a farmer/dentist and a homemaker. He graduated from Fairfield High School in 1976.

Following stints as a traveler/wanderer, factory worker, bus driver, window washer, and handyman, among others, Dr. Stucky received his nursing degree from Hesston College in 1983. He then moved to Missoula, Montana, and worked as an RN and met his bride, Tamara during the night shift at St. Patrick Hospital.

In 1987, the newlyweds moved to Lincoln, Nebraska, where Dr. Stucky attended the University of Nebraska College of Dentistry and graduated with a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 1991. During those years in Lincoln, the couple had their first two children, Ian and Erik.

Following his graduation, the young family moved to northern Idaho, where Dr. Stucky was commissioned as an officer in the United States Public Health Service, serving the Nez Perce Indian community as their tribal dentist. During that time, the family added its final two members, Emily and Eben.

In 1995, Dr. Stucky separated from the commissioned corps, and the family moved to Montrose, Colorado, where he established his current private practice of Joe C. Stucky, DDS (d.b.a. Soft Touch Dental Care).

Personal Life

Dr. Stucky enjoys many outdoor activities available in rural western Colorado, and particularly loves spending time with his family, listening to great music, and reading great poetry.

My Mission

"Nothing is more important to me than making our patients feel comfortable, appreciated, well cared for, and valued. When you walk out of the office, I want you to feel good about yourself and good about the experience you had with us.

I believe in dentistry that is customized to suit the individual needs of each of my patients, so I will listen to your concerns and work together with you to come up with solutions.  I want to help you have a healthy, functional, beautiful smile you’re proud of.  My patients deserve my very best, and that’s what I’ll give them.  I love what I do.  It’s as simple as that."

Dr. Chelsea was born and raised an Indiana Hoosier, but the West has quickly stolen her heart. Since moving to Colorado in the spring of 2019, Dr. Chelsea is always looking for places and things to explore.  When not outdoors hiking or riding horses, she spends her time knitting, watching Netflix, or practicing on her drum set.  An animal lover (R.I.P. Anakin) and diehard Muse fan, Dr. Chelsea is always re-reading the Game of Thrones novels and catching up on her favorite fan podcasts.  You’ll never find her without a Diet Coke near at hand.  Dr. Chelsea lives in downtown Colorado Springs with her three handsome Betta fish and looks forward to welcoming a new baby (puppy) to her animal family soon.
